Blade Server, Storage, Network and Virtualization Construction of Large Manufacturing Enterprise

As the requirements of continuous growing and concentrated business for the IT sector, especially the server, storage and other devices which carry critical business applications, become higher, the IT sector shall meet the business applications, change with the needs and be able to achieve system flexibility and rapid response. Besides, it shall significantly improve resource utilization, reduce costs, enhance the availability of systems and applications.

With regard to the specific implementation, in order to achieve the centralized storage and centralized backup of data and make full use of high availability of physical server cluster in virtual architecture, Rich Cloud Technology has provided the user with solutions using a set of NetApp FAS 3240AE storage product, which is configured with Cisco UCS high-performance blade integrated architecture, thus construct a complete set of converged data/storage network platform. The file packaged by virtual machine generated by VMware virtual architecture suite is stored on the storage of NetApp FAS 3240AE. With the shared storage architecture, the advantages of virtual architecture can be gave to full play. When the physical server goes down, the virtual machine will automatically restart on another server and carry out resource management and centralized integration backup based on snapshot technology of the virtual machine.
With Cisco UCS platform solutions, the server will be virtualized, the hardware resource of blade, system parameter and MAC address will be under the centralized management, hence, the hardware can be distributed based on the needs of application system for the performance. When the business changes, it is easy and convenient to recover these system resource, and redistributed to those application systems in need. The server computing resource can take action on demand, which effectively reduce operation costs and improve production efficiency through virtualization of deployment plans.

    Greatly reduce TCO

  • Through the integration of server, control and reduce the number of physical server, significantly improve the resource utilization rate of each physical server and its CPU, thereby reducing hardware costs.
  • Reduce operation and maintenance costs, including data center space, cabinet, cable, power consumption, air conditioning and labor cost.

   Improve operational efficiency

  • Accelerate the deployment of new servers and applications, and greatly reduce the server reconstruction and application load time.
  • Take the initiative in planning the resource growth in advance, quickly response to the needs of clients and applications, which does not need lengthy procurement process and try as before.
  • As fast hardware maintenance and upgrades is available now, several days / weeks of change management preparation for hardware maintenance and 1-3 hours of maintenance window are no needed as before.
